All hotels in Limnos are located in the main town of Myrina, or just outside
it. The Port of Myrina is approximately 1,5 km (10') from the main
conference venue, Porto Myrina Palace Hotel. The best way to get to this
hotel and most other hotels is by taxi, which costs 2-3 EURO. The Airport
of Limnos is further away from the town of Myrina, and it costs
approximately 15-20 EURO to get to most of the conference hotels from there
by taxi. Alternatively, the Olympic Airways shuttle may be available for
your transportation into town.
As according to your presentations: a
transparency, a slides and a P.C. projector will be available. Your files
must be in Office 2000 or XP editions. Your oral presentations should last
up to 20 min. Your poster presentation is proposed to be in the A1 paper
size (8*A4 pages), but any other size is welcomed.
Limnos Island
In Limnos, the conference will take place in Porto Myrina
Palace Hotel (http://www.ellada.net/portomyr/frams.htm), on the outskirts of the main town of Myrina.
How to get to Myrina, Limnos: There are two ways to get to the island of Limnos: a) by boat and b) by air a) BY BOAT from Pireaus (Port of Athens), 2 ferries/ week, ticket cost: 24-81 EURO from Lavrio (Port of Athens), 3 ferries/ week, ticket cost: 21-64 EURO from Volos, 1 ferry/ week, ticket cost 21-69 EURO from Thessaloniki, 2 ferries/ week, ticket cost: 20-56 EURO from Kavala, 2 ferries/ week, ticket cost: 14-46 EURO from Alexandroupolis, 2 ferries/ week, ticket cost: 14-44 EURO from Mitiline, Lesvos, 7 ferries/ week, ticket cost: 17-55 EURO b) BY AIR from Athens, 2 flights/ day, ticket cost: 76 EURO from Thessaloniki, 1 flight/ day, ticket cost: 65 EURO from Mitiline, 5 flights/ week, ticket cost: 36 EURO These prices, as well as all schedules, are subject to change in the course of a year. Please, book your transportation to Limnos early, as, especially the airplanes flying to Limnos, tend to be of a small capacity. The easiest way to get from the airport or the port of Limnos to the conference hotel is to take a taxi. Distances and taxi costs are very small. The hotel shuttle will most likely also be available at the airport, at the time of arrival of most flights. Lesvos Island In Lesvos (Molyvos), the conference venue will be the Hotel Delfinia (http://www.users.otenet.gr/d/delfinia). Sessions will be held at the Municipality Hall and at the Elementary School of Molyvos.
The conference will be transported by boat from Limnos to Lesvos and from the port of Mytiline (Lesvos) to the town of Molyvos by bus on Sept 19. The following tables present the timetables of coastal and aerial connections of Lesvos and Limnos with continental Greece. They also provide a rough cost estimation. Please, make all traveling arrangements through a local travel agent (AEOLIC CRUISES is the designated conference travel agent); the ferry-boat companies do not book electronically. The estimated time of coastal travel (by ferry boat) from Athens or Thessaloniki to Limnos and from Limnos to Lesvos is 6-6,5 hours; Athens or Thessaloniki to Lesvos is 13 hours, whereas from the other continental ports to Limnos and Lesvos the estimated time of travel varies, but it is shorter than that from Athens/ Thessaloniki. The actual timetables are announced in early summer and there is a major possibility that, by the time the conference, the timetables may change again (this is presently an off-season period for tourism in Greece). Since ferry-boat passenger capacity is very high, however, there is usually no problem booking even a few days before traveling. Notes All the following prices are per person.
